Shoestring Spotlight – Tosha Taylor

It’s time for another Shoestring Spotlight!

Longtime Shoestring volunteer had this to say when asked about her “why” for volunteering with our students every summer.

“In 2019, I was working with a group of rising fifth graders at Project Rise. I asked them what they wished they could change in the world, and I was expecting answers like ‘go on vacation more’ or ‘no homework in school.’ But they had such deep answers. They wanted to end gun violence, homelessness, and racism. My goal is to teach kids in our city skills they can use in their careers and in college. It’s all about creating spaces where kids can serve their communities and empower their classmates.”
