Shoestring Spotlight – Shavon Fletcher
It’s time for December’s Shoestring Spotlight! Shavon Fletcher is an assistant coordinator for our afterschool and summer program Project Rise. In the past, she supervised our Walton Elementary afterschool site, but is now back at the Operation Shoestring building! We asked Shavon about her experiences at the OS building site of Project Rise, and she had the following to say:
“Although I’ve only been at the OS site of Project Rise for a few months, my experience here has been phenomenal. The teachers always have awesome activities, and I enjoy participating in them. One of my favorite activities was in Ms. Crawford’s class. Students had to design and create their own outfits using paper. They were able to research ideas, and later used their research to create clothing masterpieces. I was able to design and create a cute paper purse with the students, which was very cool. I enjoy walking through the building and sitting in on classes every day. There is never a dull moment here!”
