A teacher and children assemble a camping tent

Project Rise kicks off a new semester!

Project Rise is ready for another semester! Project Rise serves roughly 175 children a day in pre-K through 5th grade. This year-round program provides engaging, intensive, educational, artistic, and social-emotional development activities for children enrolled in Walton and Galloway Elementary Schools while connecting them to caring adults from across our city. Our students are spending time this semester participating in STEM experiments, creating art, and learning more about the world around them—from the distance of the moon to the type of nests owls build.

A student in our 2nd grade class recently told us how exciting it was to set up a tent for the first time in his life with his teacher and said that he “loved learning all about the different things people can do in the world.” He’s now eager to go camping one day in the future, and thinks about spending time outdoors in a totally different way, thanks to his teachers, volunteers, and classmates!

Afterschool programs like ours foster academic and social-emotional  growth while being a safe place for kids to learn and play. Take part in creating horizon expanding opportunities for kids in our city!
