Join us online Oct. 27-28 for Conversation About Community!

Each year we host the Conversation about Community, an event where people from all over Metro Jackson come together and discuss hot-topic issues affecting our community and state.

This year’s Conversation about Community features two panel discussions with experts and community members on the historic crises we’re facing, and how these issues are affecting young people and families in Jackson today.

For your safety and convenience, we’re hosting this event virtually via Facebook Live. And while the Conversation’s platform may have changed, we’re certain to have a dynamic and organic conversation, as we always do. You don’t want to miss it!

Meeting the Moment: Parenting in the Pandemic
Tuesday, Oct. 27, 12 pm – 1 pm

COVID-19 complicated the last seven months for us all. For parents of school-aged children, working or not, life has been turned upside down. Parents are juggling work, school, the ever-increasing needs for afterschool care, and so much more. One of the biggest debates is whether to send children to in-person or virtual school. Each option is difficult to manage and fraught with its set of problems.

Our panel of parents will discuss how they cope with navigating work, home, and school amid the challenges of COVID-19. Join us on Facebook Live.

Meeting the Moment The Power of Youth Voices
Wednesday, Oct. 28th, 12 pm – 1 pm.

Young people are and have always been at the center of any revolutionary act in our country. Operation Shoestring understands the power of youth voices and the need for them to make innovation possible. And as we experience a massive awakening around racism in our community, we know young people will lead us to a more inclusive future.  Youth from all over Jackson will discuss the challenges and opportunities they face as this new movement unfolds.

Our youth panel will address racial equity and justice. Join us on Facebook Live.
