Giving Back Makes the Season Bright
There’s no better feeling than giving back to your community. At Operation Shoestring, volunteerism is at the heart of all our programming. Without the gifts of time and talent, we receive from our volunteers and community partners, we wouldn’t be able to produce high quality afterschool and summer camp experiences.
This is especially true during the holiday season.
This year, several high school students from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, alongside representatives from the Magnolia Bar Association and Gilmer & Green Legal Group gave their time to help bring a little joy to our children and families.
With extreme precision, our volunteers assembled grocery bags with all the essentials needed to prepare a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. These dinners fed 150 of the families we serve. And, in addition to sweat equity, the Magnolia Bar Association, Gilmer & Green Legal Group, and Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance also gave monetary contributions to our dinner box drive.
Helping make the holidays special for others is what this season’s all about. It’s our pleasure to be a part of a community so full of loving people, willing to give to each other, teach each other and learn from each other. Thank you for supporting our work and investing your time, talent, and treasure with our children and families.
