Afterschool is now in session!

It’s been a busy time for Operation Shoestring,! This summer, we hosted nearly 200 campers whose ages ranged from 4 to 14. Just this past Monday, we welcomed back over 150 students from Walton and Galloway Elementary. These kindergarten to fifth graders spent the day collaging, building marshmallow towers, and exploring their new afterschool.

For more than half a century, we’ve run children and youth programs focused on academic and social support while creating greater opportunity for them and their parents. As you’d expect, Shoestring kids typically demonstrate greater academic growth and have better school attendance than their peers who aren’t in our programs—adding up to hundreds of kids like in our city each year, building brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
